The Surgical Procedure
At our Center, the placement of dental implants can involve two
surgical procedures. First, implants are placed within your jawbone.
For the first three to six months following surgery, the implants are
beneath the surface of the gums gradually bonding with the jawbone.
Dr. Kaye’s patients may wear temporary replacement teeth and are able
to continue eating during this time.
After the implant has bonded to the jawbone, depending on the type
of implant, Dr. Kaye
may begin the
second procedure of uncovering the implant and attaching small posts
which will act as anchors for the artificial teeth. These posts
protrude through the gum tissue. Your restorative dentist will
then attach the replacement teeth. The entire procedure can take
as little as six weeks, or more typically, up to four to six months. Most of
Dr.
Kaye's patients are able to continue with their daily life activities
during their healing phase.
